Description

Beef back ribs are smoky, tender, and full of rich barbecue flavor. This recipe ensures a perfect cook every time, whether you’re grilling or roasting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 racks beef back ribs 🥩
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup BBQ dry rub 🌶️
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce 🍖
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar 🍏

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ribs: Pat ribs dry with a paper towel. Remove the silver skin membrane from the underside of the ribs for better tenderness.
  2. Season: Rub ribs with olive oil, then coat generously with BBQ dry rub. Let sit for 30 minutes to absorb flavors.
  3. Preheat Oven or Grill:
    • For Oven: Preheat to 275°F (135°C).
    • For Grill: Heat to 275°F (135°C) for indirect cooking.
  4. Cook Ribs:
    • Oven Method: Wrap ribs in foil, add a splash of apple cider vinegar inside the foil, and bake for 3 hours.
    • Grill Method: Place ribs bone-side down on the grill. Close lid and cook for 3 hours, maintaining temperature.
  5. Glaze with BBQ Sauce: Remove ribs from foil, brush with BBQ sauce, and return to the oven or grill at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes to caramelize.
  6. Serve: Let ribs rest for 10 minutes, slice, and serve with extra BBQ sauce.

Notes

  1. Smoking Option: Add a wood chip box (hickory or oak) for extra smoky flavor on the grill.
  2. Tenderness Tip: Cooking low and slow is the key to tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs.
  3. Custom Dry Rub: Create your own rub with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, and cayenne pepper.
  4. Sauce Varieties: Experiment with sweet, spicy, or tangy BBQ sauces to suit your taste.
  5. Serving Suggestions: Pair with coleslaw, cornbread, or baked beans for a complete BBQ feast.
