This Chicken Broccoli Pasta Casserole is a wholesome, comforting dish combining tender chicken, fresh broccoli, and creamy pasta in a cheesy baked casserole. It’s the perfect one-dish meal for busy weeknights or cozy family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked pasta (penne or rotini recommended)
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets, steamed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups cream or half-and-half
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  • Gradually whisk in the cream and continue stirring until the sauce thickens. Stir in Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Combine cooked pasta, chicken, broccoli, and half the cheddar cheese in the prepared baking dish. Pour the sauce over the mixture and toss gently to coat.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, and breadcrumbs (if using) over the top.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Substitute cream with milk or a non-dairy alternative for a lighter version.
  • Add mushrooms or diced bell peppers for additional flavor and texture.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
