Grilled Cheese Burrito Taco Bell

Description

This Grilled Cheese Burrito is a cheesy, savory masterpiece inspired by Taco Bell’s fan-favorite menu item. Loaded with seasoned beef, rice, and a three-cheese blend, it’s wrapped in a warm tortilla and grilled to crispy perfection. Perfect for recreating your favorite fast-food experience at home!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef 🥩
  • 1 packet taco seasoning 🌮
  • 1 cup cooked white rice 🍚
  • 1/2 cup nacho cheese sauce 🧀
  • 1/4 cup sour cream 🥣
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend 🧀
  • 1/2 cup tortilla chips, crushed 🌽
  • 4 large flour tortillas 🌯
  • 2 tbsp butter, for grilling 🧈

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess grease and stir in taco seasoning according to package instructions. Set aside.
  2. Assemble the Burrito: Lay a tortilla flat. Spread 2 tbsp nacho cheese sauce in the center. Add a layer of cooked rice, seasoned beef, sour cream, shredded cheese, and crushed tortilla chips.
  3. Wrap the Burrito: Fold the sides of the tortilla in, then roll it tightly to form a burrito.
  4. Grill the Cheese: Spread a thin layer of shredded cheese on top of the burrito. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Place the burrito cheese-side down and cook for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is golden and crispy. Flip and grill the other side for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Serve: Serve hot with your favorite sauces or sides like guacamole, salsa, or extra nacho cheese.

Notes

  1. Customizable Fillings:
    • You can swap out ground beef for shredded chicken, ground turkey, or plant-based crumbles for a vegetarian option.
    • Add black beans, pinto beans, or sautéed peppers and onions for extra texture and flavor.
  2. Cheese Variations:
    • Experiment with different cheese blends like cheddar, Monterey Jack, or pepper jack for a spicier kick.
    • Use shredded mozzarella for an extra melty cheese layer.
  3. Tortilla Tips:
    • Warm the tortillas slightly before assembling to make them more pliable and easier to roll.
    • Avoid overfilling the tortilla to prevent it from tearing.
  4. Grilling Technique:
    • For an extra crispy texture, use a sandwich press or panini maker.
    • Use parchment paper between the burrito and the grill to keep the cheese from sticking.
  5. Serving Suggestions:
    • Pair with guacamole, salsa, sour cream, or Taco Bell’s signature Baja Sauce for dipping.
    • Add a side of seasoned fries or chips for the full fast-food experience.
  6. Make-Ahead Option:
    • Prep all the components (cooked beef, rice, and cheese) in advance. Assemble and grill the burritos fresh for best results.
  7. Spice Level:
    • Adjust the heat by adding diced jalapeños, hot sauce, or spicy taco seasoning.
